Milk-booth owner shot at in S Delhi, robbers flee with cash

A milk-booth owner was today shot at allegedly by two bike-borne persons who also robbed him of cash at his shop in Mehrauli area of South Delhi this morning, police said.

Dhananjay, 32, owner of a milk booth in Mehrauli was in his shop at around 10 AM when two bike-borne robbers reached there. While one waited outside the other went inside and pointed a gun at the shop owner and started taking away the money from the cash box, police said.

When Dhananjay resisted, he fired at him injuring him close to chest. The robbers managed to carry away Rs 42,000, said a senior police officer.
 

After the robbery, Dhahanjay, despite the injury, managed to close his shop and approached a neighbour who took him to a nearby hospital for treatment. He is stated to be out of danger by the doctors, said the officer.

The victim also told police that Rs 17-18 thousand kept in his pocket were missing and he was not sure whether he had misplaced it or the robbers took it away.

"We are examining the CCTV camera footage from local shops for clues and have also rounded up some local miscreants for enquiry. A case has been registered in connection with the incident under relevant Sections of IPC," added the officer.
