Diversified PSU Andrew Yule today opened its first tea lounge in the city and will roll out more outlets pan-India depending upon the response, a company official said.
"Today we have opened the first tea lounge at Eco Park in New Town here. Depending upon the response, we have plans to open more such outlets in the eastern and north-eastern regions initially," Andrew Yule's Director Sunil Munsi told PTI.
Later, the company plans to open such outlets across the country, he said.
Andrew Yule, which has 15 tea gardens, also showcased its model tea estate located on one acre of land inside Eco Park.
Munsi said due to differences in climatic and other conditions, the company had shipped 40 truckloads of soil from Dooars, which is high in acidic content.
The model tea garden would have the capacity to produce nearly 350 kilograms of CTC variety, which would then be hand-rolled and sold through the tea lounge in both loose and packed forms.
