Minister to Nashik officials: Check spread of dengue, malaria

Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan today asked the district administration to take all necessary steps to deal with mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya and curb their spread.

The Medical Education and Water Resources Minister gave the direction at a meeting attended by senior Government officers and people's representatives from this district in North Maharashtra.

Mahajan, who is also Guardian Minister of Nashik, asked officials to make available adequate stock of medicines, undertake drive to eradicate mosquitoes and create awareness among people about prevention of these diseases.

The meeting was informed that from January to August, a total of 26,14 blood samples were taken, 832 of which tested positive for the three illnesses, an official release said.
 

Collector Radhakrishnan B, District Health Officer Sushi Wakchoure, Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Krishna, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Milind Shambharkar, BJP MLAs Seema Hiray and Balasaheb Sanap, among others, attended the meet.
