The first meeting of the Inter- Ministerial Committee, which includes Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, on suggesting ways to address issues raised by central trade unions, will be held on July 19.
"The first meeting of the committee of ministers to discuss the unions' 10 point charter of demands and other issues, particularly proposed labour law amendments, is scheduled on July 19," All India Trade Union Congress Secretary D L Sachdev said.
"The government is holding the meeting of the committee ahead of Indian Labour Congress to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 20, to show that they are holding wider consultations before labour reforms," he said.

"They want to dilute the trade unions' strong opposition on certain proposed labour law amendments. But unions are determined to go on strike on September 2 as announced earlier to protest against government's anti-worker and unilateral labour reforms," he added.
In May, the government decided to constitute the Inter- Ministerial committee to hold threadbare discussions with representatives of Central Trade Unions on 10 point charter of demands and other issues being raised by them and for recommending measures to address those issues.
The other members of the committee are Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Power Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh.
The Secretarial assistance to this committee is being provided by the Labour Ministry.
