Over 700 huts were reduced to ashes in Santoshpur area, police said adding that a four-year-old child, whose identity has not been ascertained yet, was found dead and four other kids from the area were reported to be missing.
Ten fire tenders were pressed into service after the blaze was first reported from a hooch shop at 'Nutan Basti'.
It took three hours to control the fire, police said.
Cause of the fire was not known yet, however, locals have alleged that it was an act of sabotage by miscreants to clear the huts.
