Unidentified men allegedly set on fire a vehicle here which was carrying some milch animals, police said today.

The vehicle owner has lodged a complaint with the police that the miscreants last night stopped the heavy vehicle, which was carrying the animals, and set it on fire after its driver was asked to get down and the animals were set free, Sirsa SP Mitesh Jain said.

He said that the miscreants had also damaged another vehicle which was following the heavy vehicle.

Asked if the miscreants suspected that the milch animals were being transported towards Uttar Pradesh for slaughter, the SP said the case has been registered and further investigations were on.

Jain said that the vehicle owner has claimed that he had the permits from the concerned authorities to transport the animals in a legal manner.
