Mob burns down four houses during Surendranagar group clash

Atleast eight persons were severely injured and around four houses burnt down in a violent clash between two groups in Navagam village of Chotila taluka in Surendranagar district of Gujarat today.

According to the local police, groups of Koli and Bharwad communities began fighting with each other over some petty issue today afternoon.

"Women of both these communities first entered into a verbal spat over a petty issue. Later, men from both the communities joined the quarrel and started throwing stones at each other. Later, they also burnt down atleast four houses in the village," Circle Police Inspector H M Vala, who rushed to the spot to control the situation said.
 

Police has confirmed that atleast eight people who were seriously injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

As a precautionary measure, a large number of policemen have been deployed at the village, Vala said.
