Moderate rains in North

For the second consecutive day, the national capital was lashed by rains.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.6 degree Celsius, normal for this time of the year.

Parts of Uttar Pradesh also witnessed moderate to light rains.

Gautampur recorded 9 cm rainfall, followed by Khurja at 7 cm, Narora and Hasanpur at 5 cm each, Hapur 4 cm and Pilibhit 3 cm, MeT officials said.

Meanwhile, a report from Barabanki said Ghaghra river is flowing over the danger mark with the release of water from Girija and Banbasa barrage. The river water has also entered about half a dozen villages, the report said.

 

Most parts of Punjab and Haryana reeled under humid conditions as, barring a few places, states witnessed no rains.

However, the Met has forcast rains this weekend in the region.

Chandigarh, where cloudy weather has been prevailing for the past three days, got only traces of rain today.

The maximum temperature in Chandigarh settled at 32 deg C, and humidity stood at 84 per cent.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 30.6 deg C, Rohtak's high was 31.7 deg C while Bhiwani's maximum settled at 35.6 deg C.

In Rajasthan, Udaipur and Kota divisions received moderate rains during the last 24 hours, while isolated parts of Jaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur divisions witnessed light showers.

However, in Himachal Pradesh, capital Shimla witnessed a cold day with maximum temperature settling at 18.9 deg C.
