Senior IAS officer Mohan Verghese Chunkath was today appointed Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu, replacing Sheela Balakrishnan who will be retiring on March 31.
Mohan Verghese Chunkath IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Environment and Forests Department, is transferred and posted to act as Chief Secretary to Government in place of Sheela Balakrishnan who is retiring from service on March 31, a Government Order said.
The Public (Special.A) Department GO dated March 28 said Chunkath will also hold additional charge of the post of Vigilance Commissioner and Commissioner of Administrative reforms, hitherto held by Balakrishnan.
Meanwhile, the government decided to appoint the outgoing Balakrishnan as Adviser in the grade of Chief Secretary to government for a period of one year.
The orders regarding terms and conditions of her appointment will be issued separately, the GO said.
