A leopard has been sighted at Thimbam ghat section near Sathyamangalam forests creating panic among vehicle drivers and Forest Department officials, police said today.
The carnivorous was first sighted by Muthuswamy, a lorry driver last evening when he parrked the vehicle there. Other vehicles passing through the area also noticed the leopard.
One of the lorry drivers informed the Forest Department officials who reached there with guns.

Later the animal was chased away to the forests.
Police said the Forest Department officials had intensified patrolling in the ghat section and asked vehilce owners not to stop vehicles in the area and go in convey of 10 or 15 vehilce from Bannari to Thimbam.
A mauled body of a 42-year-old farmer with nail and bite marks was found two days ago today at Thimbam forest area, indicating an attack by a wild animal.
