Enraged over the dowry demands and misbehaviour meted out to her family by her future in-laws, a woman in Mehgaon town here called off her wedding and forced the marriage party to go back.
The incident took place last night when Malkhan Singh's daughter, Meenakshi got irked over the behaviour of her groom's family who under the influence of alcohol not only demanded Rs two lakh in cash over and above the amount that her parents had already agreed to pay but also manhandled her family members when they refused to bow to their demands, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Vimal Kumar Jain said today.
Meenakshi then took the brave step and refused to marry Manish (groom), who subsequently along with his marriage party was forced to go back, her father Malkhan Singh said.
Later, she along with her family members reached Mehgaon Police Station and filed a complaint under relevant sections of the Dowry Harassment Act against the accused.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly
Rameshwar Dudi condemned the killing of the woman and demanded a reply from the government on the issue in the House.
"The killing of the woman shows that there is no rule of law. The government should give a reply on the matter in the Assembly," Dudi said.
