Nagaland Governor to get additional charge of Manipur

Nagaland Governor Ashwani Kumar was today given the additional charge of neighbouring Manipur, which will come into effect from Tuesday.

Present Manipur Governor Gurbachan Jagat's tenure ends on Monday (July 22).

"The President appointed Ashwani Kumar, Governor of Nagaland, as Governor of Manipur, (additional charge) when the incumbent, Gurbachan Jagat, Governor of Manipur, completes his tenure on July 22, 2013," a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said in a statement issued today.

Kumar, a former CBI Director, will discharge the functions of the Governor of Manipur until regular arrangements are made, it said.
