Nair bags best U-17 archery award for Meghalaya

For the first time, a secondary school student from the northeastern region of the country have topped the Under-17 national ranking archery tournament in the compound category.

Meghalaya's Parvati Nair, a class VIII student of the Army Public School, Happy Valley in the city emerged winner in the U-17 girls category of the national ranking archery tournament held in New Delhi from February 12-16, Defence spokesperson group captain Amit Mahajan said.

Nair won the u-17 girls' category and bagged a booty of Rs 10,000 while in the U-22 (juniors) category she emerged the second best and got cash reward of Rs 12,000, he said.
 

Nair has been trained for seven months at the 58 Gorkha Training Centre, Happy Valley in the state capital.
