Namami Gange trek flagged off from Gangotri

A team of experts from different walks of life today began a four-day long 'Namami Gange' trek from Gangotri temple, to create awareness about cleaning and conservation of the Ganga river.
The 55-member team would tomorrow reach Gomukh, the snout of the Gangotri Glacier from where Bhagirathi River originates which is one of the primary sources of the Ganga river.
The trek was today flagged off by Gangotri MLA Gopal Singh Rawat.

The team comprising policy makers, administrators, mediapersons, scientists and environmentalists would take a pledge of cleaning the Ganga at Gomukh.
They would also plant trees at Bhojvasa besides deliberating on 'Swachhata Abhiyan' and cleaning the Ganga river.
