The National Liver Foundation, an organisation promoting awareness and prevention of liver diseases, today announced the opening of its Rajasthan state chapter with participation of patients and the medical fraternity.
"Basic objective of the chapter is to create awareness about preventable hepatic diseases, reaching out to people suffering from chronic or advanced diseases through educational and training programmes, forming patient support group, and mobilising funds for providing treatment to patient at subsidised rates," Gastroenterologist Ramesh Roop Rai, who is the chapter convenor, said.
Dr RoopRai, former president of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology, said several activities would be undertaken to aware people about chronic diseases.
"The chapter will be run by the network of patients and the medical fraternity," he said.
