Naval Dockyard team sets out on Mumbai-Leh-Mumbai car rally

Thirty personnels of the Naval Dockyard here set off on a Mumbai-Leh-Mumbai car rally today.

The 'Surf to Snow' rally is part of golden jubilee celebrations of the Western Naval Command, the headquarters of which was set up in Mumbai in 1968, a Defence release said.

The participants, which include officers and sailors apart from 'civilian' employees of the Dockyard, are travelling in 10 Sport Utility Vehicles, and will complete the entire road journey in 30 days.

The objective was to reach out and connect with the populace along the route, the release said.

The Western Naval Command is the largest command of the Navy and home to its finest ships, aircraft and submarines including the aircraft carrier.
