BJP today said without improving the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, the claims of Samajwadi Party government of creating a favourable atmosphere for industrialists would prove "hollow".
The clash between two PAC jawans today in full public view while on duty at an event attended by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav itself reflect the poor law and order situation in the state, BJP chief spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.
After the clash the two jawans, who were on duty for the Uttar Pradesh Udyami Mahasammelan, were arrested, he said.
The manner in which industrialists raised questions over the transfer policy and functioning of government has itself exposed the claims of the state government, Pathak told reporters here.
He said that partnership summit at Agra was being claimed by the state government as the biggest events of investors.
"In reality, after the formation of this government around 25 per cent small and medium enterprises have closed and another 25 per cent are on the verge of closure due to its policies," he alleged.
Power crisis was another factor due to which industrial units were heading towards closure, Pathak said.
Meanwhile, national secretary general of ASSOCHAM D S Rawat had yesterday said, "There have been some incidents during the Akhilesh Yadav government which have shaken the confidence of investors and there has not been improvement in the law and order situation."
Owing to power crisis, as many as 25 per cent SMEs have closed down in the state which is a matter of concern, he said.
