Need to minimise road accidents in Arunachal: Deputy CM

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein today called for strict implementation of safety measures to minimise road accidents in the state.

Raising concern over growing cases of road accidents, Mein directed the police and transport departments to conduct regular checking and deal strictly with violators of traffic rules, an official release said.

The deputy chief minister stressed on implementation of all safety parameters during construction of roads.

Mein said funds would be allocated in the upcoming state budget for acquisition of equipment, vehicles, and training related to road safety.

Chief Secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin said the transport and police departments must put signage of speed limits in the township area, and set up electronic traffic signals in the junctions to reduce road accidents.
 

She also suggested the use of CCTVs to catch hold of traffic rule violators.
