Neigbour abducts girl, stones her to death

A five-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and stoned to death by her neighbour after he failed to rape her in Uttarakhand's Haridwar district, police said today.

The body of the girl, allegedly abducted by Mohit, her neighbour, on Sunday night in Roorkee, was found yesterday, they said.

Mohit took the girl with him on some pretext while she was standing outside her grandmother's house, police said.

When he failed to rape her, he tried to kill her by strangulating her, police said.

He then allegedly battered her to death with stones, they said.
