A new building of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) Metro Police Station was today inaugurated at Aerocity Metro Station here.
According to a police release, "The average travel time from an Express Metro Station to a police station was about an hour and passengers travelling on this line had to go all the way to Raja Garden Metro station to lodge a complaint/FIR.
"Now, IGI Airport Metro Police Station has been given space at the Aerocity Express Metro station and it was inaugurated today by Mukesh Kumar Meena, Joint Commissioner of Police, New Delhi Range."

The IGIA Metro Police Station was already operational and functioning from the premises of Raja Garden Metro Police Station, police said. But the new building has now been opened for convenience.
According to DCP (Railways), Sanjay Bhatia, a dedicated four digit 'All India Metro Police Helpline No.1511 (Toll Free)' will also become operational soon to redress problems of Metro rail commuters in the country in minimum time.
It added that a new police assistance booth would also soon come up at Aerocity Metro Station.
Meanwhile, a notification regarding the redistribution of the jurisdiction of Metro stations among eight Metro police stations came into effect from today.
