The government today described as "very revealing" a newspaper report which claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's office had asked the then environment minister to act against Adani Port and SEZ and said it will "look into" it.

"The information is very revealing. We will look into it," Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar said in Rajya Sabha.

Javadekar was responding to a supplementary asked by V Maitreyan (AIADMK) who showed cutting of a newspaper report in which it was alleged that Gandhi's political office had requested the then environment minister Jayanthi Natarajan to initiate action against the Adani Group.

During the election campaign, Congress had been targeting BJP and its Prime Ministerial candidate and then Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi alleging they were favouring the Ahmedabad-based Adani Group.

To a supplementary, Javadekar said 25 applications for Terms of Reference (ToR) and seven for environment clearance have come since online submission of application scheme was introduced a month ago.
