Insurgents of banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) abducted two tribals from Girachandrapara, a hill top tribal hamlet in Gandacherra sub-division of Dhalai district, about 180 km from here, police said today.

A group of five to seven ultras armed with sophisticated weapons raided two adjacent huts of the tribals at Girachandrapara and kidnapped Barendra Reang, 30 and Harendra Reang, 21 on Thursday night, IGP (Police Control), Nepal Das said.

The village is near the Chittagong Hill Tract (CHT) of neighbouring Bangladesh and the area could not be fenced by barbed wire due to tough terrain and it is presumed that the ultras might have sneaked into Bangladesh territory, the IGP said.

Border Security Force (BSF) was asked to hold a flag meeting with the Border Guard Bangladesh to set free the abducted persons, Das said.
