No decision on merger of institutions for classical languages: Govt

No decision has been arrived yet on merger of institutions for classical languages with central universities, Rajya Sabha was informed today.

"The government has not finalised any decision for merger of institutions of classical languages. Government's policy is to promote all Indian languages," Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said in a written reply.

Javadekar was asked whether the government is planning to merge six institutions for classical languages with the central

universities situated in the respective states.
