No proposal for Reang (Bru) Development Area: Lal Thanhawla

Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla today said the state government will never allow division of the state on communal or ethnic lines and there is no proposal for setting up a Reang (Bru) Development Area.

Addressing party workers at the Congress Bhavan, he said that a mistake in an official press statement recently snowballed into a controversy.

"A fund earmarked for development of people living in remote areas was mistakenly projected as for Reang Development Area development fund," he said.

The Congress government would never take steps towards further division of the state on ethnic lines and the political parties should ensure that intra-ethnic squabbles are avoided, he added.
