No proposal has been sent by any of the three civic bodies for merging the trifurcated MCD into a single municipal corporation, Rajya Sabha was informed today.
"Government of NCT of Delhi has informed that no such proposal has been from North, South, and East Delhi Municipal Corporations," Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary said in a written reply to a question.
The erstwhile unified MCD was trifurcated into three bodies -- North (NDMC), South (SDMC), and East (EDMC) corporations in 2012. And unification of the municipal bodies back into one unit has been the demand from some quarters.
