No respite from heat in Haryana, Punjab

The maximum temperatures in Haryana and Punjab today rose by a few notches even as the heat conditions swept across the region again after a temporary respite.

According to the MeT office, Ambala in Haryana recorded a high of 39.6 degrees Celsius, one notch above than normal.

Karnal registered a high of 39.4 degrees C, up two degrees while Narnaul recorded a high of 38 degrees C.

Ludhiana in Punjab had a hot day at 40.3 degrees C while the maximum temperature in Patiala settled at 39.8 degrees C.

The holy city of Amritsar recorded a high of 40.3 degrees C.
 

Chandigarh also registered an increase in its maximum temperature, which settled at 38.6 degrees C, one degree above than normal.

During the past four days, the maximum temperatures in the two states had dropped below normal in the wake of rains lashing the region.
