Press Trust of India Guwahati
Assam Police today ruled out any possibility of talks with NDFB(S) and ULFA(I) and said intense operations would continue against these two outfits.

"The discussions usually take place with the main group. The government is already holding talks with ULFA and NDFB. The existing underground groups are just splinter units," the state's Director General of Police Khagen Sarma told reporters here.

He said NDFB(S), which carried out serial attacks last week in some districts, was not a militant organisation but a "criminal group".

"Intense operations against these two groups will continue so that they cannot rise their head again," Sarma said.

81 people, including 26 women and 18 infants, have been killed since December 23 evening in serial attacks by NDFB(S) terrorists, retaliatory violence and police firing in four districts.
