Prices of non-basmati rice rose by Rs 25 per quintal at the wholesale grains market on increased buying by retailers and improving demand.
However, other grains including wheat held steady on restricted buying activity.
Traders said increased buying by retailers to meet rising demand helped non-basmati rice prices to trade higher.
In the national capital, non-basmati rice permal raw and wand variety prices rose by Rs 25 each to Rs 2,175-2,225 and Rs 2,225-2,325 per quintal, respectively.
