North East Delhi residents protest over frequent power outages

Violent protests erupted in Bhajanpura area of North-East Delhi over power outages as angry residents pelted stones on a DTC bus before setting it on fire following which three persons were arrested, police said today

Residents took to the streets at around 11:30 PM last night as they were frustrated over power crisis in the scorching heat. They broke the windows of a DTC bus and set it on fire and also damaged a car during the protest.

Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot which doused the flames. Senior police officials soon reached the spot with additional force and dispersed the crowds with mild use of force.
 

"We have arrested three people in connection of the violent protest over power crisis in Bhajanpura area last night," said Additional Commissioner of Police (North East) V V Chaudhary.

There were reports of minor protests in several other areas of the city as well over power cuts, police said.
