An enquiry was today ordered into the death of a North MCD employee, who died while trying to fix a loader of the civic body in outer Delhi's Narela area.

North Delhi mayor Preety Agarwal directed municipal commissioner Madhup Vyas to set up an inquiry into the death of Satvir, 52, who worked as a driver in the Narela zone of the North Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

"He was reportedly driving a Vectra make Skid Steer Loader which was purchased recently by the corporation," Agarwal said.

The victim also trained other employees in operating loaders owned by the civic body. He was killed on duty in an accident yesterday.

The mayor also directed the commissioner to look into the "functioning and safety aspects" of the newly-purchased loader.

The mayor has sought a detailed report about the matter by Monday, a North MCD statement said.

Agarwal also visited the family of the deceased and assured to extend all possible support.

She directed that compassionate appointment to a dependent of the deceased be extended by the corporation without delay, the statement added.
