Celebrated American writer O' Henry is set to be the central character of a Bengali film with whom a budding woman author falls in love.

Director Animesh Roy said in 'O' Henry' the long dead author plays the muse of a young writer Megha who gets inspired by his work before taking up the pen.

Without giving away much, the director said that Megha's obsession would reach a level in which she would start to see her muse as a newspaper reporter who would arrive to interview her at her home after she received a literary award.

About his work, Roy quoted the tradition of Bengali cinema drawing references from the world of literary art.

Bengali actress Locket Chatterjee, of 'Balukabela.Com' and 'Mahapurush O Kapurush' fame, plays the character of Megha.

Scriptwriter Sudip Chattopadhyay and actor Dibyendu, who plays the character of Megha's interviewer, said the film was a different take on a long dead writer dominating the mind of a young person.

"I discovered this fact about Megha as I come to interview her, being the only reporter to get one. While liberally using metaphors and imagery, we have also included songs in the multi-layered film for the sake of the narrative and leaving it to the audience to draw their own conclusion," Roy said.
