Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today directed officials to reach out to the affected people in the flood-hit areas, saying more attention should be paid in dewatering of inundated areas particularly in the summer capital of the state.

Omar, along with various ministers, top-level officers reviewed the relief and rehabilitation work in a meeting at the civil secretariat here, an official spokesman said.

He said the chief minister directed the officials for gearing up the men and machinery at all levels to reach out to the affected people in all flood-hit areas.

Omar said more attention should be paid for dewatering of water-logged areas, particularly in Srinagar city.

Earlier, the chief minister visited the Civil Secretariat complex, Assembly Complex and the High Court here and ascertained the latest situation of dewatering at these complexes.

He directed the concerned departments to further intensify the efforts so that normal functioning of these institutions can take place as early as possible, the spokesman said.
