A fake certificate racket was busted with the arrest of a person, who allegedly sold 300 fake marriage certificates in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh, police said today.
"Vijay Gabhjiye alias Abdullah Khan was arrested on charges of making fake certificates, from Rajnandgaon town on Thursday," Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Shukla told PTI.
He collected lakhs of rupees for issuing fake certificates of caste, marriage, domicile and inter-caste marriage, the SP said, adding, that he used to con people by assuring them that he would help them make their certificates as early as possible.

The racket surfaced, when the police was tipped-off that Vijay frequently visited local courts and asked for money from people for helping them get their certificates, he said.
After his arrest, Vijay told the police that he had been carrying out this illegal business for the last several years.
"He used to sell certificates between Rs 1,000 and Rs 10,000," the SP said.
According to the accused, so far he had made 300 fake inter-caste marriage certificates. He had also received marriage incentive award amounts of Rs 50,000 for inter-caste marriages through fake certificates on several occasions, the SP said.
Stamps of judicial, district administration, police offices and other certificates were also recovered from his possession, the SP said.
He did not rule out involvement of other people in the racket and said that a further probe is on.
