One dead, 16 injured as buses collide

A girl engineering student died and 16 others were injured when two buses collided near here today, police said.

The student, Arivulakshmi, died on the spot.

The injured, including both drivers of the state government bus and a private one, have been admitted to hospital, police said, adding, the condition of the drivers is said to be serious.

The state government bus was going from Chennai to Nagercoil while the private bus, coming from the oppositie direction, was proceeding to Madurai.
