One person was killed, a few others were injured, and about 10 houses were set on fire in a clash over land dispute between two families at Lanka in Nagaon district, the police said today.
Members of the two families were not in good terms because of the dispute over land.
One family alleged last evening that members of the other recited the 'azan' wrongly and this led to a clash and several persons were injured, the police said.
One of them died in hospital, following which the family members of the deceased set afire houses of the other family and their relatives this morning.
A police team went to the spot and brought the situation under control, the police said.
