Gujarat government spent Rs 217.05 crore on construction of Swarnim Sankul-1 and Swarnim Sankul-2, the new buildings in the state secretariat, the state Assembly was informed today.
Rs 217.5 crore was spent as of May 31, 2014, which includes Rs 140.03 crore for construction, Rs 40.96 crore for furnishing, Rs 24.24 crore for air-conditioning plant and Rs 11.82 crore for other works at the two complexes, Roads and Buildings Minister Nitin Patel said in a written reply.
Swarnim Sankul-1 was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi in April 2013. The five-storey complex houses the Chief Minister's office, chambers of all the cabinet ministers and a conference hall.
Modi inaugurated the five-storey Sawarnim Sankul-2 this year. It houses offices of other ministers.
