One kg gold worth over Rs 32 lakh recovered from smuggler

The Police today seized one kg gold worth over Rs 32 lakh from a smuggler travelling on a bus from a place under Areir police station area of Bihar's Madhubani district.

Acting on a tip-off, a police patrol party raided the bus in Benipatti area while it was on its way to Darbhanga district and arrested the smuggler, who was identified as Suraj Ashok Shinde, Assistant Superintendent of Police Rajesh Prabhakar said.

During the search operation, one kg gold gold was recovered from Shinde's possession, who is a resident of Sangli district in Maharashtra, he said.

Further investigations are on, Prabhakar added.
