One-year-old boy charred to death as hut catches fire

A one-year-old boy was charred to death and his parents received severe burn injuries when a fire engulfed a hut while the family was asleep in Shopian district of south Kashmir today.

The fire broke out in the hut at Audu village of Shopian, 55 kms from here, in the wee hours, killling the child Abrar and injuring his father and mother, police said.

The shed was completely damaged in the fire.

The couple, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat and his wife Naza Akhtar, received severe burn injuries and had been admitted to SMHS hospital here.

The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
