P Sheshadri chosen for Karanth award

National award-winning Kannada film maker P Sheshadri has been selected for this year's Shivarama Karanth Balavana award for his contributions to cinema in Kannada.

The award would be presented at a ceremony to be held at Parlatadka Balavana in Puttur, the adoptive second home of Karanth on October 10, his birth anniversary day, a release here said.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, would be the chief guest at the function to be presided over by Shakuntala Shetty MLA.

Sheshadri had won four national awards for best feature film in Kannada, another national award for best film on social issues and two awards for movies on environment protection. Films directed by Sheshadri include 'Munnudy,' 'Atithi,' 'Beru ,' 'Tutturi,' 'Vimukthi' and 'Bettada Jiva,' a film based on Karanth's novel.
