Sajany Leela Bhansali's controversial film "Padmaavat" was released without any untoward incident in the city today.
Some Karni Sena activists had been detained by police near the Gangapur dam near here yesterday as they planned to commit 'Jal Samaadhi' in protest against the film.
Police sub-inspector Vivek Bairagi said police had beefed up the security at the theatres, but there was no incident.
Viewers emerging from theatres told reporters that they didn't find anything controversial in the film, which some Rajput organisations have been opposing for allegedly distorting history.
