Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said on Friday the pain and agony of the Unnao rape survivor and her family puts the ruling government to shame.

"The pain and agony which the Unnao rape victim and her family suffered from the ruling dispensation is unpardonable and puts the government to shame and this cannot be compensated," Mayawati posed on Twitter.

The BSP chief said the Supreme Court deserved praise for its intervention, adding that justice could be meted out only if the guilty get strict punishment.

The apex court had on Thursday transferred all five cases registered in connection with the Unnao rape incident from a Lucknow court in Uttar Pradesh to a court in Delhi with directions to hold trial on daily basis and completing it within 45 days.

The court had said the CBI would have to complete the investigation within seven days into the recent accident in which the victim and her lawyer were critically injured and two of her aunts killed.
