In yet another ceasefire violation, Pakistani troops today targeted Indian forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, prompting retaliation by Indian forces.
The Pakistani troops opened unprovoked firing in Balakote belt of Mendhar sector of Poonch district around 1650 hours, the Defence PRO said tonight.
The Indian troops retaliated resulting in exchanges intermittently, which continued till 1730 hours today, he said, adding that there was no loss of life or damage to property in the firing.

On July 20, Pakistan Rangers indulged in heavy firing and shelling of mortar bombs on 15 border outposts and several villages along the International Border in Jammu district, damaging houses and killing livestock.
On July 18, Pakistan Rangers targeted BoPs with small arms and automatic weapons along IB in Arnia belt of Jammu district.
It was followed by ceasefire violation by Pakistani Rangers, who fired at Border Out Posts in Arnia-Pindi forward area in R S Pura in Jammu district on night of July 17.
