Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said he would campaign for the upcoming Goa Assembly elections.

"I am from Goa. So definitely, I have to be in Goa for election campaign. Is there a question mark on that? You feel that I should disconnect relations with Goa?" Parrikar asked while responding to a media query.

"Secondly, when any politician is from any part, he has to meet his own people. Some people feel that I should not be coming here because their chances of getting elected reduces," he said.

"I feel that any politician will always keep contact with voters," the former Goa chief minister said.

Parrikar said as a Defence Minister he gets briefings in morning, afternoon and evening.

"I can speak on phone. I go around the country also. I travel everywhere. I cannot be in Delhi all the time. I attend every matter (related to my portfolio).

"During election, definitely my role will be there for victory of BJP. BJP government is sure to be in saddle with better performance and support from the people," Parrikar added.

Goa goes to poll next year.
