After winning the Danish grand prize at 2nd Copenhagen International sand sculpture festival, Odisha's internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has been selected for the World championship 2013 in the United States.
Pattnaik is among the 20 sand sculptors selected from across the globe to take part in the championship to be held from June 11 to 16.
The participating countries include USA, Russia, Belgium, Canada, Latvia, Mexico and Netherland, Pattnaik said in a statement today.
"I am very happy to get this invitation to represent India in this championship. I will try my best to create a beautiful sculpture," said 36-year-old Pattnaik.
Sudarsan, who runs a school in Puri, has been making sand sculptures for over 20 years and has represented India in more than 50 international championships and won many prizes.
