Petition in HC seeking CBI probe into riots during SP regime

A petition was filed today in the Allahabad High Court seeking direction for a CBI probe into all the major riots which took place after the formation of Samajwadi Party-led government in Uttar Pradesh.

Social activist Nutan Thakur filed the petition which is expected to come up for hearing on Friday.

As per the petition, the action and policy of the current government and its officials have been such that it shows a "definite tilt towards a particular sect".

It has been alleged that in all the riots that took place during the last 18 months, the administration "shied away" from taking action.
