Corporate Affairs Minister Sachin Pilot today met Union Minister V Narayanasamy and demanded CBI probe into the mysterious death of a medical student in Uttar Pradesh.

Pilot, who led about 20-member delegation including the victim's father, met Narayanasamy for half-an-hour and apprised him of the incident.

"We have got assurance from the Minister (Narayanasamy) that he will look into the demand (for CBI probe)... The state government is not carrying out proper investigation into the matter," said R Bhadana, the victim's father.

Narayanasamy holds the charge of the Department of Personnel, the administrative department for CBI.

Neeraj Bhadana, an MBBS first year student hailing from Faridabad in Haryana, was found dead in a private college premises on July 6. Leaders from her community have been petitioning Pilot, who represents Ajmer (Rajasthan), in Lok Sabha, for taking up the matter.

On July 18, Pilot wrote to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav requesting him to intervene and ensure a fair probe into the case.

"The college management termed it as an accidental death, but the post mortem report found that the girl was strangulated. An FIR has been lodged in the case. It is necessary that a fair and transparent probe is carried out in this case," Pilot had said in his letter.

"Media reports have also suggested a dubious role of college authorities in the girl's death. Following public outrage, I request you to intervene in this case and instruct the concerned officials to arrest the accused," he had said.

There has been public outcry over the girl's death.
