Kerala cabinet today approved plan outlay to a tune of Rs 20,000 crore for 2014-15, which is 17.65 per cent more than the current year.
The plan size would be submitted to the Planning Commission for ratification and schemes would be implemented after getting due sanction, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters after a cabinet meeting here.
Special focus has been given to agriculture with an allotment of Rs 3444.55 crore and for major infrastructure projects Rs 1225 crore has been earmarked, he said.
A special feature was that Rs 600 crore has been earmarked for the development and welfare of scheduled tribes, which was Rs 150 crore more than this year, he said.
On the completion of the second phase of 'Jana Samparka Paripadi' (Mass Contact Programme), he said government would bring in necessary changes in rules and law for the speedy disposal of grievances of people. The second phase of the programme ended at Kannur yesterday.
On the controversy regarding the participation of Government chief whip and KC-M nominee P C George in the 'run for unity' programme, organised by BJP, Chandy said he agreed with the view of KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala, who had objected to the action of George.
