Nawaz Sahrif's PML-N has invited the Pakistan Muslim League Functional to join the central government as coalition partner.

The PML-N, which has won 124 seats in the national assembly of 272 elected seats but got the majority with the support of around 40 independents, offered to make the PML-F and Jamiaat Ulema (Fazlur Rehman group) coalition partners in the new government.

The PML-N leader Shahbaz Sharif invited Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) to join the federal government during a meeting here today.

The PML-F won five national assembly seats and seven in the Sindh assembly in the recent general elections and is headed by the son of the late Pir Pagara a spiritual leader and veteran politician.

PML-F Chief Pir Pagara said after the meeting that his party wanted to join hands with PML-N before elections as well, but that could not be made possible due to some engagements elsewhere and some differences between party members on some matters.

"However, we are still trying that within two to three months, the Muslim League can sit together on one platform.
