A suspected drug peddler was arrested after a large quantity of medicines to be distributed among drug addicts was seized from him in Shopian district of south Kashmir, police said today.
Acting on specific information, a police party arrested Faheem Ahmad Shah yesterday near Imam Sahib in Shopian town, 52 kms from here, a police spokesman said.
He said Shah, a resident of Manzimpara village, was carrying 84 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and a large number of Diazepam injections, which were seized from him.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against him, the spokesman said.
