Police have arrested six people allegedly involved with the death of a teenaged girl due to taunts and alleged physical abuse at Baranagar in the northern fringes of the city, but the prime accused is still untraced.
Relatives of prime accused Pritam Dey - Tumpa Bhowmick, Kamal Kar, Shukla Kar, Shibani Roy, Rana Roy and Pampa Sarkar - were arrested late last night for their alleged involvement in the crime, a senior police officer of Barrackpore Police Commissionerate said.
Pritam's proposal was rejected by the girl, a resident of Forward Colony in Baranagar.

The girl's relatives alleged that Pritam's relatives had on Saturday afternoon assaulted and molested her when she went to fetch water from a tubewell in the locality, the officer said.
After returning home, the girl had allegedly set herself on fire after locking herself in a room and succumbed at R G Kar Hospital yesterday.
"In her dying statement she had narrated her plight and we have launched a search for Pritam. We are also looking into the claims of the girl's family about the molestation," the officer said.
